The orthopaedic engineer (O.E.) will be able to execute the scanning procedure directly on the patient or on the model previously created with CopyCAD. The system allows the user to look into the database for a suitable mould that fits with the specific requirements. The model can then be sent directly to production or modified if necessary and than sent to production. CopyCAD, the Delcam software for the reverse engineering, is a comprehensive solution to manage point cloud data. It will allow the O.E. to fill the gap between the digital and the physical world, reading every set of data, which have been generated by optical, laser or mechanical devices.

Once the model has been modified, with PowerMILL 5 axis, it is possible to generate the work cycle to create the thermoforming mould for the orthesis or prosthesis. This particular procedure can be undertaken in house, if CNC machine tools are available, or by external third parties (workshops, etc.). 5 axis strategies allow the user to save time when machining with a single set-up complex shapes such as orthesis/prosthesis.
